If you choose to have a tank with lighting, which is ok, just be aware of the problems it may cause. Adding light to the tank, you also add heat. Algae thrives on heat. Although the light will not harm your tank, it may add to the growth of algae. It is not uncommon and is easily cleaned. Your fish will enjoy having the light, so it is probably better buy a hood that includes a light. Try to keep the tank out of direct sunlight when you choose its location within your home. It will also add to algae growth.
Once you've created your tank and the water is stabilized, you may add your fish. Sure to buy only cold water fish to add to this tank. If you do not know what types of fish are coldwater, ask for help to a pet. They will offer advice on additional types of fish you buy too. Once your fish are added, you'll have a beautiful scene underwater to enjoy for years to come. It is important to clean and take care of your tank on a regular basis. A thorough cleaning tank should be done every 2 months, including a change of water, scraping algae, rinsing the gravel filters waste and changing.
You will find that time passes, you will form a routing to take care of your cold water aquarium. It is worth the effort to maintain the reservoir because you'll be rewarded with a wonderful addition to your home.
